2008 (SENIOR):
Redshirt season. Graduated.

2007 (JUNIOR): Appeared in 47 games for the Titans, making 36 starts in the outfield.... had hits in back-to-back games against Oregon State (March 4) and Loyola-Chicago (March 6)... drove home teammate Sheila Holguin with the game-winning run against the Beavers.

2006 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in 53 games, making 44 starts... was 2-for-3 with a run scored against Oregon State on Feb. 11... also had two hits in a win over Illinois-Chicago on March 7.

2005 (FRESHMAN): Appeared in 36 games, making 24 starts - including the team's final 13 games... scored the game-winning run in the Titans' 2-1, 11-inning victory over UCLA in the NCAA Regionals at Easton Stadium... notching her first career hit (a game-winning double) in the first of a doubleheader against LMU on Apr. 14 and scored her first game-winning run of the season in the nightcap against the Lions... when she went a career-best 2-for-3 with a run scored against Cal State Northridge (May 13).

Played four seasons of softball as a middle infielder for the Indians... a two-time first team All-Freeway League selection as a junior and senior as well as a two-time MVP... also played four years of water polo, earning all-league and MVP honors three times... four-time scholar-athlete.

Born January 30, 1986, in Santa Ana, Calif... parents are Keith and Margaret... has two brothers, Erik and Kory... majoring in psychology and health science...played at Fullerton Hills Softball before HS.........later played travel ball for the O.C. Lionettes.

2011 (Sophomore Season): Started in all 51 games for the Buckeyes ... ranked sixth on the team with a .232 batting average ... earned 33 hits in 142 at bats ... had 19 RBI including two vs. Morehead State (April 29), three vs. Chattanooga (Feb. 18) and four at Minnesota (April 2) ... scored 13 runs during the 2011 season ... collected eight doubles, one triple and two homeruns ... had a .500 batting average with the eventual gamewinning home run in the top of the seventh at Minnesota (April 2).

 Prior to Ohio State: Four-year starter and two-year captain at Sonora High School ... was selected to the Freeway All-League First Team twice and to the second team twice ... voted best Defensive Player two times and Most Inspirational three times ... helped squad to Whitter Tournament title, named MVP ... also earned one letter in basketball. IMPACT team leader - a mentoring program for freshman at Sonora H.S. ... volunteered at soup kitchens in high school. Played as a youth at Fullerton Hills Softball. Also played NJB Basketball.

Named Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for April 11-17, 2011.Sooner Athletic Conference first team all conference for 2011.Van Dieren, a senior outfielder from Placentia, Calif., produced a .459 average, 16 doubles, eight triples, 13 homers, 67 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. She ranked second in the NAIA in triples, hits (96), fifth in runs scored (74), sixth in total bases (167) and at-bats (209) and 10th in RBIs. Van Dieren led the SAC in batting average and ranked fourth with 1.06 RBIs a game.High School Highlights: A three-time all-Century League selection for the El Dorado Golden Hawks… finished her senior season with a .409 batting average… stole nine bases on the season… went three-for-four against Mater Dei in a one run win.Personal:Parents are Robin and Joe Van Dieren… sibling is Cameron… majoring in sports medicine… also played soccer. Played at Fullerton Hills Softball as a youth. All-Ivy League honorable mention ... co-led Princeton with 10 multi-hit games at the plate, including three three-hit games, and threw a team-high 116 2/3 innings in the circle, tying for the team lead with six wins ... went 3 for 3 at the plate against Central Connecticut State on March 30, as well as 3 for 5 against Yale on April 3 and 3 for 3 at Penn on April 17 ... homered March 13 against Syracuse, March 16 at Georgetown in a three-RBI game, March 27 against Marist in a four-RBI game, and March 30 against Central Connecticut State ... pitched seven or more innings in a game 11 times ... season-high nine strikeouts came in seven innings of work against Hampton on March 19 ... had a four-hit, two-walk shutout at Dartmouth on April 9 ... gave up one earned run in the season finale at Cornell on May 1 ... all six wins were complete-game outings.

Personal
Parents are Gerald and Laura Peyton ... brother Reid is a 2008 Princeton graduate and pitched three seasons for the baseball team ... sister Taylor is a 2010 Boston College graduate who played softball for the Eagles ... ecology and evolutionary biology major. Finished her high school career with a 0.96 ERA and a .330 batting average ... earned league Most Valuable Pitcher honors as a senior ... hit .367 with an 0.83 ERA as a junior, leading to a first-team All-California Southern Section honor. Played at Fullerton HIlls and also played NJB basketball and soccer.

2011 All-Big West Conference Honorable Mention selection as a pitcher as a redshirt sophomore... finished 5-7 overall in the circle with a 3.40 ERA... allowing 53 runs (41 earned) in 84 1/3 innings, striking out 26 and holding opponents to a .270 average... all five of her wins came in Big West play to go along with a 2.66 ERA, holding conference hitters to .268 average in just over 55 innings of work... rebounded to finish the season 5-3 after opening the season 0-4 in the circle... went a season-high seven innings six times.

Played four seasons for the Indians... four-time All-Freeway League selection, including first-team honors her sophomore-senior seasons... twice named to the all-county team, including first-team honors as a senior... Freeway League MVP as a senior... was 8-2 with a pair of saves in the circle as a senior, posting a 0.19 ERA and 91 strikeouts in just under 73 innings of work... surrendered only two earned runs (six overall) while scattering 24 hits... helped the Indians to their first league title in 10 years as a junior, finishing 19-5 with a 0.41 ERA, and helped Fullerton Union H.S. to the CIF Division III finals as a sophomore with a 13-4 record and a 0.48 ERA.

Played in 48 games for Boston College, starting in 47 as a pitcher and an infielder...hit .212 with 29 hits, four home runs, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored...added four doubles and 16 walks...hit 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored against East Tennessee State on February 27th...went 3-for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored against Belmont on March 4th...hit 3-for 4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored against Dartmouth on April 28th...also made 32 pitching appearances with 24 starts as the team's top starter...finished the season with a 10-15 record and a team leading 2.54 ERA...struck out a career high 102 batters, also leading the team...pitched a career high 12 complete games...hurled four innings of no-hit ball against Bryant for a combined no-hitter with Morgan Kidd on February 8th...In a two-game span, pitched 20.0 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out 12 in extra inning wins over Maryland and NC State on April 19th and April 24th.

She was named the 2008-09 softball Most Valuable Player at The George Washington University annual Senior Honors Luncheon held on May 4, 2009.

Graduated.  From Fullerton, CA, Gabriel has shined in the circle again for GW this season, leading the team and ranking in the Top 3 in the Atlantic 10 in complete games, strikeouts and innings pitched and setting a single-game record with 16 strikeouts against Temple April 3. She owns every career, single-season and single-game pitching record for the Colonials with a year of eligibility remaining.

Two-time Freeway League MVP who led the Sunny Hills Lancers to four consecutive league championships under coach Art Jarman ... Two-time First-Team All CIF selection in 2005 and 2006 ... played club softball for the So Cal Squeeze, Orange County Batbusters and Orange County Lionettes ... played as a youth at Fullerton Hills Softball where her dad Richard coached her for many years.
