Guideline for playing division by age

This guide will show you what division of play to sign your daughter up for.

Normally adjustments are made to play up or down only in unusual situations based upon skill levels or safety factors.

The Board of directors must approve any change in playing division and has the final decision.

Division Description

Divisions

 
 

Age for 2023 is determined by the player's age on Dec 31, 2022

 

6 & Under Instructional/ T-ball
Girls ages 4.5 to 6. This is a T-ball / coach pitch division designed for introducing girls to the game, team play and developing skills.

  • No scores are kept
  • Everyone plays every inning
  • Fewer games scheduled than older ages

8 & Under
For 7 / 8 year olds. This is the first player pitch division.

  • There are no walks in early season games
  • Coaches pitch when 4 balls are reached
  • Bat the bench
  • Base-stealing limitations
  • Pitching limitations

10 & Under
This division is for 9 / 10 year olds.

  • Home plate is open for advancing per ASA rules
  • One base limit per pitch on steals
  • 4 outfielders
  • Bat the bench
  • Pitching limitations

12 & Under
For 11 / 12 year olds. Regular open ASA softball rules are used in this level except:

  • Bat the bench
  • 3 or 4 outfielders
  • Pitching limitations lessened

14 & Under
This division is for 13 and 14 year olds not playing High School ball. 

  • Bat the bench
  • No pitching limitations
  • ASA rules apply

16& Under (14-16)
This is a division/team established after High School CIF play is completed for High School players or other high schoolers, from our local High Schools to compete in ASA games and tournaments.

18 & Under (16-18)
This is a division/team established after High School CIF play is completed for High School players or other high schoolers, from our local High Schools to compete in ASA games and tournaments.
